Aloe Vera aids the management of many problems and these pages are designed to educate and inform the
visitor. Suggestions made are not to be interpreted as a medical consultation.
Several studies have shown the healing properties of Aloe Vera in disease processes such as peptic ulcers, hyper acidity, bowel movements and reduction of putrefactive bacteria in the colon.

Putrefaction by anaerobic bacteria. Vitamin production by acid loving bacteria |
Acid loving bacteria such as Lactobacillus Acidophilus tend to survive the acidity of the stomach and go on to colonise the small and large guts. This inhibits growth of
undesirable putrefactive bacteria and candida. Lactobacillus Acidophilus also manufactures small amounts of vitamins which are then absorbed by the gut.
High protein diets (meat) favour putrefactive bacteria to proliferate and cause decarboxylation of amino acids which is both toxic to the gut and absorbed by it into the blood stream.
Abnormalities in Digestive Process Leads to Disease and Poor Health
It is now accepted that high intake of animal proteins, low fibre diet and processed foods cause irregularities in bowel function. Constipation and abnormal hyper motility
cause bulging and sagging of the gut and contribute to formation of Diverticulosis (out pocketing of the large bowel). High animal protein diets cause abnormal putrefaction
and production of toxic and cancer producing substances.Infestation with halicobacter pylori in the stomach causes hyper acidity and ulcer
formation. Chronic inflammatory conditions cause poor absorption from the small and large bowel, as well as abscesses and infection.
Studies by Bland showed that ingestion of Aloe Vera extracts in healthy individuals:
- Reduced putrefactive bacterial flora in the gut.
- Reduced stool density.
- Shortens transit time of faeces through the gut.
- Lowers production of amino waste.
Bland also demonstrated that it corrected hyper acidity in the stomach.
How Aloe Vera Helps the Gut 1. 'Detoxes' by reducing harmful bacteria levels.2. Increases the water holding capacity of the stools so that the gut is able to expel
the faeces more easily. 3. Prevents build up of bacterial waste products which are toxic. 4. Anti-inflammatory effects of Anthraquinnones in Aloe Vera help in disease
processes such as ulcers and colitis. 5. Bactericidal and virucidal activities of anthraquinnones. 6. There are many vitamins and minerals present in Aloe Vera. These vitamins act
as anti-oxidants which help to prevent damage to the gut lining. The minerals act as coenzymes and catalysts.
Conditions Helped by Aloe Vera Crohn's Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Diverticulitis, Ulcerative Colitis.
